FEEL FREE is 10 new Doug Varty original rock tunes inspired by the style and spirit of 70’s rock bands AC/DC (Bon Scott era), Bad Company, ZZ top and The Who.

Packed with riffalicious songs, driving beats, smokin’ vocals and offbeat characters in weird situations, this album has something for every fan of this classic style.

This album was recorded by studio ace Bob Breen at his home studio on a 24 track TAPE machine, through an analog board, and mixed the same way, just like in the good old days. Like Doug, Bob’s a Southwestern Ontario boy, but had the talent and good fortune to spend time working at Ocean Studios in Los Angeles where he recorded many premier acts, including Bad Company, Los Lobos, Joe Walsh and Crosby, Still and Nash.

Special Guest on FEEL FREE is Kelly “Mr. Chill” Hoppe of Big Sugar. His hot harp offerings are heard on the barn-burning track “Upsetter”, and on the title track “Feel Free”, an ode to an older woman who introduces a certain young man to the grown-up way of doing things.

Says Doug: “This album is my best and favourite work by far. The spirit of what I love to play and the way my band and I play it has been captured perfectly by Bob.”
